The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway offers a lovely way to enjoy the scenic sights of the English Cotswolds along a lovingly restored line pulled by diesel and steam locomotives.

Since 1981, volunteers have carefully restored the GWR heritage railway which now includes over 10 miles of line plus platforms, buildings, steam and diesel locomotives, and rolling stock: it's a chuff head's dream! The railway offers a 25 mile round trip between Laverton and Cheltenham Racecourse, travelling through some spectacular scenery ideal for a quiet afternoon jaunt on the rails.

Most service trains offer refreshments too so you don't even have to haul a picnic along with you (unless you want to!) either from their lovely restored Buffet coaches, or their newly restored Restaurant coach. There is also a coffee shop at Winchcombe, plus a cafe charmingly called the Flag and Whistle at Toddington.

A small museum operates at Toddington station, located in a former GWR Collett Brake coach dating from 1935. It houses a display of memorabilia and early scenes of the railway.

Plus on top of the scheduled service, GWR hosts a number of galas and enthusiast events throughout the year, including their popular Santa Specials!

Jump on at Broadway and travel through the Cotswolds!
